Tottenham player ratings: Dele Alli shines as midfield impresses in win over Aston Villa

Posted by

Tottenham secured a 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday night with Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Harry Kane grabbing the goals to seal the victory.

The hosts were dominant in the first half and took just two minutes to break the deadlock. It sent Villa towards another defeat in front of their new manager Remi Garde, as the Frenchman watched on from the stands at White Hart Lane.

Alli was amongst the star performers for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, see how he and his teammates fared in our player assessment below:

Hugo Lloris – 6/10

Quiet night for the Frenchman as Villa didn’t pose enough of a threat, while there was little he could do to stop Jordan Ayew’s deflected effort.

Kyle Walker – 6/10

Comfortable game as he did his defensive job well and got up in support when possible in an all-round solid display.

Toby Alderweireld – 6/10

Spurs had the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League so far this season, and the partnership between the two Belgians has been key to that.

Jan Vertonghen – 6/10

Did his job in the heart of the defence for the most part, but was unfortunate to guide Ayew’s effort into the back of the net while he and Alderweireld looked a bit shaky in Villa’s best period late on.

Danny Rose – 6/10

A willing runner down the left flank for the hosts although the distribution didn’t always match his endeavour before an injury forced him off.
