Manchester United secured a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, with Wayne Rooney scoring the winner for the hosts.
Louis van Gaal’s side were looking to avoid a fourth consecutive goalless draw, and although they showed signs of improvement, they couldn’t find a way to break the deadlock early on.
However, Rooney proved to be decisive in an otherwise quiet display, find out how the England captain fared in our player assessment below:
David de Gea – 7/10
Quiet night for the most part, but the Spaniard made a vital save to deny Seydou Doumbia just before Rooney’s goal.
Ashley Young – 6/10
Another awful dive marred his performance, as despite playing at right back he remained a menace going forward and worked tirelessly for the team.
Chris Smalling – 7/10
Crucial clearance practically off the line to deny Doumbia which capped off an impressive all-round display.
Daley Blind – 6/10
Solid enough defensively, while his passing was key to getting United moving forward with more tempo and directness.
Marcos Rojo – 6/10
Willing runner down the left flank and was much improved defensively compared to the meeting with CSKA a fortnight ago.
