Tottenham ratings from 2-1 win over Anderlecht: Goalscorers 8/10 but Alli disappoints for first time

Mousa Dembele scored an outstanding late winner for Tottenham Hotspur to clinch them a vital 2-1 win over Anderlecht this evening, which takes them to the top of Europa League Group J.

Spurs took the lead through Harry Kane’s emphatic first-half finish at White Hart Lane, but the Belgians responded strongly and Imoh Ezekiel broke the offside track to equalise on 72 minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino immediately brought Dembele off the bench, and the midfielder sent an unstoppable right-footed shot into the top corner three minutes from time to snatch Tottenham victory.

Here, CaughtOffside rates how the home players performed under the floodlights in North London…

GK: Hugo Lloris – 6/10

Despite Anderlecht appearing dangerous going forward for much of the game, Tottenham’s captain was rarely stretched after an early fingertip save from Steven Defour. No chance with the goal.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 7/10

As good as he has been for Spurs in an attacking sense, aside from one horrifically skewed shot. Tested defensively by the rapid Frank Acheampong, but stood firm for the most part.

CB: Toby Alderweireld – 6/10

Spent much of the game involved in another physical tussle with Stefano Okaka, but his key intervention came when he made a last-ditch sliding challenge to thwart Ezekiel in the final 10 minutes.

CB: Jan Vertonghen – 7/10

Was having an excellent game until he strangely allowed an Anderlecht cross to go over his head. Ezekiel applied the finish for the Belgians as Tottenham threw away another European lead.

LB: Ben Davies – 7/10

So unlucky not to score his first Tottenham goal when his volley thundered back off the crossbar. Most of the Anderlecht threat came from their left flank, but Davies still needed to be aware.
