Arsenal and Man United scout Portuguese wonder kid dubbed the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are said to be on the trail of Benfica starlet Goncalo Guedes who has been dubbed as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’, according to the Metro.

The 18-year-old is being billed as the next breakthrough star of the Portuguese top flight, with reports claiming that the Premier League duo, along with Manchester City, have all had the young winger watched closely already.

However, their path to his signature could be blocked by the apparent £40million asking price that the Daily Telegraph claim Benfica have placed on him.

This will not be the first time that Arsenal and Man United have raced for a Portuguese teenager, of course, with both clubs now known to have been interested in Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2003.

United won that one, but Ronaldo never had a £40m price tag slapped on his head.

The 18-year-old has made eight appearances for Benfica so far this term, scoring one goal.
