Arsenal loanee branded an ‘uncontrollable lunatic’ despite great current form

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been labelled as an “uncontrollable lunatic” at Roma by former Juventus stopper Stefano Tacconi, despite his good form for Roma so far this season, the Daily Star reports.

The Polish international has enjoyed a strong start to his loan spell with Roma, conceding just eight goals and helping the side to climb to third in the Serie A table (via Star).

And though goalkeeper’s are usually seen as eccentric characters due to the nature of their job on the pitch, Tacconi has said he believes Szczesny takes that theory to the next level.

“He’s a good goalkeeper, there’s no doubt about that,” Tacconi told Gazzetta TV.

“But he’s an uncontrollable lunatic – he’s completely mad. And for this reason he’s a risk.

“What rating would I give him? 7.5.”

The 25-year-old has previously stated that he would be open for a return to Arsenal when his loan spell in Italy comes to an end.

“Nine months is a long time in football and anything can happen, but Arsenal are like a family to me and I’ve got to admit that if the Gunners do call me back, I would say yes.

“I could see myself at Arsenal for all my life, and I don’t hide the fact that is still my dream.”
