In-form Derby County will look to go top of the Championship when they take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the “El Cloughie” derby later tonight.
The Rams are currently in the midst of a superb run of form, winning 8 and drawing 2 of their last 10 games. The run of results have propelled them up the table with Paul Clements side currently 5th, just one point off leaders, Hull.
“From my experience of derby games in the past, I think the team that controls their emotion the best will more than likely come out on top,” the former Real Madrid assistant told reporters.
“I am sure the game will be very hard fought. I’ve seen some of the past games and I’ve spoke to the players about it.
“Like any big derby game, I know it’s important to the fans. It’s a game we are really looking forward to and we’re preparing well”
Last time they beat QPR 1-0 and they will fancy their chances of local bragging rights against a Forest side that has not won at home since the opening day of the season.
While Derby will head into the clash as the favourites, as is the case with local rivalries, form can go out the window. Speaking ahead of the game, Clements has warned his players about staying calm and composed in what is expected to be a fiery encounter.
Clements will have George Thorne available again following suspension while Tom Ince is set to be included in the squad after overcoming injury.
Forest meanwhile may have scored in 19 of their last 20 clashes with Derby however their league form has been poor of late. The club are 19th in the table and are without a win since a 1-0 success over Birmingham in September.
Beleaguered manager Dougie Freedman will at least be boosted by the return of Henri Lansbury and David Vaughan after suspension however Michael Mancienne (knee) and Robert Tesche (foot) are expected to miss out.
