Arsene Wenger wants to bring former midfielder back to Arsenal; £7.1m transfer in the works

The injuries to Arsenal‘s midfield finally bit the team in the behind as they struggled against Tottenham Hotspur, ultimately being held to a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal, and were defeated 5-1 by Bayern Munich.

To keep the midfield depth strong, Arsene Wenger has his eyes on Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.

According to the Metro, Arsenal have had scouts watch Ozyakup in Turkey recently – and saw the young midfielder score a game-winning goal against Bursaspor in the Super Lig this past weekend. The Gunners are understood to be angling for a deal to bring him to Emirates Stadium. The source noted that a deal worth £7.1 million could be in the works.

Ozyakup spent several years in Arsenal’s youth side but made just two appearances for the club back in the 2011-12 season, but never making an outing in the Premier League.

The Turkish international signed with Besiktas in 2012 and has emerged as a star, recording 15 goals and 30 assists in four seasons with the club.

Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Jack Wilshere have all missed time due to injuries this season and as such, reinforcements are required at the Emirates Stadium.
