Chelsea star refuses to accept CRISIS talk at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has revealed that he and his teammates are refusing to look at the league table following the Blues’ miserable start to the campaign.

After 12 matches, the Pensioners sit 16th in the table, having amassed only 11 points from their matches so far. Jose Mourinho’s side are in the midst of a nightmare campaign and their form is belying the fact they are England’s reigning champions.

Heading into the international break, they sit only three points clear of the relegation zone—and newly promoted Bournemouth—and find themselves a whopping 15 points off leaders Manchester City.

Even Champions League qualification looks like a big ask for the Blues right now, with fourth-placed Manchester United a considerable 13 points ahead of Mourinho’s beleaguered outfit.

Serbian midfielder Matic—one of the side’s outstanding individuals during the first half of the last campaign—has come in for criticism for his performances, and has latterly revealed that while he and his teammates don’t feel they deserve their woeful points tally, they are refusing to acknowledge their lowly position in the table.

“I think in the last two games we played good football but have been unlucky,” the midfielder began, as per The Sun.

“I don’t want to say that we have played well in all games this season — of course, there were some games where we deserved to lose.

“But I think this was not the case in the last two and we deserved more.

“What is going well is that the team is together, everyone understands the situation we are in and we will try to be more together and work hard to make this situation better.

“In this moment, we haven’t had the luck to change something to make it better for us but I hope in the future we will. We are not used to being in this position but we don’t look a lot at the table.

“Last season, when we were champions, for the first ten or 15 games we also did not look at the table — we tried to take things game by game and collect as many points as possible.

“The table is not realistic now because I think Chelsea deserve more. We will try to recover points which we lost up to now.”
