Wayne Rooney delivers strike of the season to WWE superstar’s face; will Manchester United star be at Wrestlemania?

Posted by

In over a decade at Manchester United, Wayne Rooney has proven his greatness time and time again en route to 12 trophies, countless individual awards and the adoration of all of England. But at least one unimpressed Englishman – WWE superstar Wade Barrett – decided to test the veteran striker’s mettle, and paid for it with a yet another signature strike from Rooney.

During a recent WWE event in Manchester, Barrett called out the star striker, who was in attendance in the front row, and started berating him along with the Man United fans in attendance. Earlier in the year, Barrett publicly called out Rooney for diving in an FA Cup match against Preston North End FC.

After berating Rooney and the Man United fans in attendance, Barrett later walked up to Rooney and got into his face, earning arguably the best shot Rooney has delivered all season – right to the left cheek in the form of a gentleman’s slap.

Considering that wrestling is absolutely, 100% real, it was amazing to see how much power Rooney could deliver in one slap to a five-time Intercontinental Champion.

Instead of becoming a manager, maybe Rooney should ask Vince McMahon for a contract after he retires from football…The Undertaker’s still looking for a Wrestlemania opponent, Wayne.
