Arsene Wenger to hand Alexis Sanchez mid-season Arsenal break

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is apparently ready to offer star player Alexis Sanchez a mid-season break in the coming weeks as he fears the continual action will burn out the Chilean international, the Metro reports.

The 26-year-old began his Gunners career in flying form – bagging 26 goals during his maiden campaign – but has taken longer than hoped to get off the ground this time around. Having helped Chile to victory in the Copa America over the summer, it has taken him until October to finally start finding his best form (via Metro).

Arsenal’s busy schedule now appears to be taking its toll on the former Barcelona man, and a report in the Daily Mirror claims that Wenger is prepared to hand Sanchez a slight reprieve in order to catch his breath.

The report states that with nine players currently on the sidelines with various injuries, The Gunners are concerned that Sanchez will follow suit if he is not allowed to rest and recover.
