Italian giants desperate to sign Arsenal star on long term deal

Serie A title hopefuls Roma are believed to be keen on retaining the services of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, according to the Daily Star.

The Polish international is currently spending the season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico, though he has insisted that once his short term stay comes to an end he is eager to return to north London and regain his place in the Arsenal first team.

However, Roma’s Sporting Director Walter Sabatini has admitted that his side will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of the 25-year-old.

“We are working on it and would like to keep Szczesny,” Sabatini said.

“But knowing Arsenal it will be difficult to achieve that.

“In any case, Roma are already covered in that role for next season.

“Who did we get? I will never tell you that!”
