Surgery looms for Liverpool flop; will he be sent back to Anfield?

AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, on loan from Liverpool, is facing surgery which jeopardises his participation at Euro 2016.

The forward is currently spending the season at the San Siro after a miserable maiden campaign on Merseyside.

Things look to be getting worse for the troubled forward, following the news that he will undergo groin surgery this week.

It’s an operation that should keep Balotelli out for three months, jeopardising his participation at Euro 2016. Italy have already qualified for next summer’s European Championships in France, but may have to head to the tournament without the forward, who shone at the last continental competition three and a half years ago.

The striker has made only four appearances at Lombardy since returning to his homeland, and hasn’t played for the last month.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report that Liverpool have agreed to Balotelli’s treatment, although it remains to be seen whether he will remain at Milan or return to Merseyside for his recuperation.
