Manchester United transfer news: Louis van Gaal looking to Bournemouth to ignite title challenge

Posted by

Manchester United are understood to be eyeing a move for Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie as they look to improve their offensive options.

The Red Devils have struggled to impress offensively so far this season, and have scored fewer than their would-be title rivals.

While Manchester City, Arsenal and even Leicester City have bagged 26, 22 and 25 goal respectively, United have found the net only 17 times.

Despite spending money on Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial during the summer transfer window, the new men have only shone in fits and starts so far this season and, as such, Louis van Gaal is looking for reinforcements in January.

According to the Daily Mail [as per the Mirror], LVG is eyeing a move for Bournemouth’s Ritchie, who has adapted well to the demands of the Premier League.

The 26-year-old would bring pace and invention to a forward line badly lacking both. Ritchie has scored twice and contributed one assist so far this season.
