Arsenal & Manchester United set for transfer battle over Italian U-21 international

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to go head to head for the signing of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

According to reports in Italy, both Premier League heavyweights are said to be considering a move for the 21-year-old, who is understood to be growing increasingly frustrated at Juventus.

Despite their struggles this season, the Old Lady are not short of talented and experienced defensive options, and as such, Rugani has found it tough to break into the Juve first team ahead of the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli.

When Martin Caceres returns to fitness, he too will provide competition for a spot in the heart of the backline.

As such, Rugani—who impressed during the early portion of his career at Empoli—is understood to be pushing for a move in January.

The defender, who is likely to leave Turin on loan rather than on a permanent deal, is wanted by both United and Arsenal according to Tutto Mercato Web, as noted by the Independent.
