John Stones Chelsea: Fourth bid for Everton superstar expected in January

Chelsea seem to be chasing Everton defender John Stones more relentlessly than the Premier League title this season and are ready to make yet another big offer for the young star after being snubbed several times over the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are expected to make a fourth bid for Stones in January despite being rejected from offers ranging from a reported £20-30 million earlier this year. Stones is a dominant defender for the Toffees and at age 21 has already become a solid starter for England.

The Daily Mail noted that Jose Mourinho’s dissatisfaction with summer signing Papy Djilobodji has made them more eager to sign Stones as a replacement.

Chelsea have struggled on defense all season, allowing 23 goals – third most in the Premier League – and winning just three of their first 12 fixtures. Between a bad season for John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic as well as the absence of star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea are in danger of finishing outside the top six for the first time since the 1995-96 season.
