Man United outcast Victor Valdes on verge of Old Trafford exit

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes is set to bring a deeply dissatisfying spell at the club to an end in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

A report in Goal.com claims that the former Spanish international is in the process of negotiating a return to Catalonia by entering in discussions with Espanyol about sealing a free transfer in the new year.

Goal claims that the talks have reached an advanced stage.

The 33-year-old has been banished by manager Louis van Gaal after reportedly refusing to take part in an under-21 game last season.

Valdes is believed to be very happy with how the Espanyol talks are progressing and is keen to make a return to the city of Barcelona.

The former Barcelona man joined the club in January of this year, but only managed to make two first team appearances thanks to the stellar form of David de Gea between the sticks.
