With five goals and an assist since joining Manchester United on the most expensive teenage transfer in football history, Anthony Martial has risen to stardom at an exceptional pace. In an in-depth interview with the French starlet, Martial revealed the team he admires the most as well as the greatest goal he ever scored and the football legends that inspired him.

During the interview with Foot Locker Europe, Martial revealed that Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona team was the best team he ever saw play. Martial said he loved the philosophy of the club that won 14 trophies in four seasons and admired that they had great players in every position.

‘I think the greatest goal I’ve ever scored is the one against Liverpool,’ Martial said. ‘It was amazing for me and it really made my name in the Manchester team’

As for the best goal out of the 15 he has scored since joining Monaco, Martial called his Premier League debut goal against Liverpool his best so far.

‘I think the best team I’ve seen play is Barca during Pep Guardiola’s time. I loved their game philosophy. They had great players in every position and it really made you want to play football when you watched them play.’

When it came to his favorite footballers of all-time, Martial listed off a group of some of the greatest stars in the world – including the Brazilian Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and French legend Zinedine Zidane.

‘My three favourite players were Ronaldo, the Brazilian, Ronaldinho and Zidane because they’re players who were beautiful to watch play and they’re ones who made me want to play football.’

Martial is expected to miss time due to a foot injury he suffered with France during the international break.
