Man United to target new striker after missing out on Serie A hit man

Manchester United will be forced to search out a new striker target in the new year after Domenico Berardi’s agent confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Juventus, according to the Daily Express.

United, along with European giants Borussia Dortmund, had been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, who is currently impressing with Italian minnows Sassuolo.

But the two heavyweights will now have to seek alternative targets after seemingly failing to convince the Sassuolo ace to leave Italy, with Juve all set to complete the transfer next summer.

“Juventus have a verbal agreement with Sassuolo for June,” Berardi’s agent, Simone Seghedoni, told Calciomercato.

“That’s still a long way away though, and we’re not thinking about it at the moment.

“Domenico will not go to Juventus in January, I can categorically rule out leaving in the next transfer window.

“He will not move until June, in line with a programme devised along with the club.

“Domenico is only thinking about continuing his growth with Sassuolo and coach (Eusebio) Di Francesco.

“His intention is to achieve his targets and score the highest number of goals in Serie A.”
