Chelsea chase Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea are in the market for a striker, and are reportedly ready to swoop in for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to the Sun, Jose Mourinho and the club are willing to pay around £20 million for the Gabon frontman.

The Blues are desperately in need of additional firepower – Diego Costa has struggled for long periods this season, while Loic Remy is injured and the Radamel Falcao gamble has not paid off.

Aubameyang is especially appealing to Mourinho thanks to his freedom to play in this season’s Champions League; Dortmund did not qualify for this year’s tournament. Despite that positive, he would not be available until mid-February, with the African Cup of Nations lurking just after the new year.

The Sun claim the striker could be one of two new strikers that Chelsea sign in January, but they do not go into detail about the other player in question.
