Chelsea transfer news: Mourinho optimistic about sealing deal for £100k-per-week attacker

Chelsea are hopeful of tying attacking midfielder Willian down to a new deal at the beginning of 2016.

The Brazil international has been one of the few shining lights in a testing campaign for the Blues so far this season.

The reigning champions are enduring a miserable season so far; and after 13 matches, they have lost seven matches, winning only four. Their 14 points leave them 15th following their victory over Norwich City at the weekend, and while they are only five points off the relegation zone, they only have half the points of leaders Leicester City.

Willian has impressed, and beyond his energetic showings and impressive work rate, he has also scored five goals—more than any other Chelsea players.

However, according to the Standard, the Selecao star is on the brink of extending his current deal, which expires in 2018.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man is currently earning £80,000, but the Blues are keen to tie him down to a £100,000-per-week which would see him stay at Stamford Bridge until at least 2020.
