Man United must match PSG’s £26m-per-season offer to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo

French giants Paris Saint Germain are reportedly ready to blow Manchester United out of the water in their pursuit of unhappy Real Madrid megastar Cristiano Ronaldo by offering an eye watering amount of money to secure his signature, the Daily Express reports.

PSG are apparently so desperate to land the 30-year-old that they are willing to offer him a stunning £250,000-per-week after tax in a bid to convince him to head for the French capital instead.

This could put United out of the running as thanks to the UK’s 50 per cent top rate of tax, the Red Devils would have to offer an even bigger £500,000-per-week just to match PSG;s gambit.

And that would mean that they would be shelling out an astounding £26m per season for a player heading into his 30s.

United boss Louis van Gaal is known to be keen on bringing the Portuguese ace back to Old Trafford, with reports set to go into overdrive in the coming weeks after an unnamed Barcelona player stated that he is desperate to leave Real Madrid since growing dissatisfied with life at the club.

PSG’s current highest earner is striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who earns a not unimpressive £220,000-a-week after tax, but Ronaldo’s offer would dwarf even that.

The Ligue 1 champions are presently flush with cash after being informed by UEFA that they are unlikely to be hit with any Financial Fair Play sanctions in the near future.

Real are said to be keen on earning around £60million for Ronaldo’s signature, and with PSG now free to spend heavily again they could look to put the wheels in motion on a move.
