Mauro Icardi rules out Arsenal move in January

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has distanced himself from speculation linking him with a January move to Arsenal, according to the Daily Express.

The Gunners have reportedly targeted the Argentine frontman as the ideal replacement for Danny Welbeck, who is still struggling to return from a long standing injury.

The former Manchester United star has been out of action with a knee injury he picked up in April and went under the knife in early September.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has since been on the hunt for another striker to fill the void left by the England international, with reports naturally linking him with a move for Icardi.

However, Wenger is set to be disappointed in his pursuit of the 22-year-old, as he explains that he has no desire to leave the San Siro before the end of the season.

In response to the interest coming from north London, Icardi told Mediaset Premium: “I stay here this season as I did the last one.

“I’m also the captain and I can’t leave a team which is doing good things.”
