Chelsea transfer target & Mourinho’s January hope not coping at PSG after Angel Di Maria arrival

Chelsea have received a boost in their hopes of signing Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Javier Pastore following revelations that the attacking midfielder is struggling with life in the French capital in light of Angel Di Maria‘s arrival.

The attacking midfielder—who hasn’t always lived up to expectations at the Parc des Princes—is enduring a tricky campaign in Ligue 1.

The playmaker made 34 appearances in the French top flight last season, scoring five goals and contributing 12 assists. However, this term his impact has been limited, making three assists and scoring once in eight outings.

The key reason to his declining impact is the arrival of Angel Di Maria, who has made a big impression after joining from Manchester United during the summer.

As reported by Le Parisien [via Le 10 Sport] on Monday, the Argentine international is envisaging an exit from the club as he seeks first-team football, despite being under contract until 2019.

According to L’Equipe [via Le 10 Sport], Pastore is struggling to cope with his reduced role at the Parc des Princes and is unhappy with finding himself on the peripheries of the first team.

The news may come as good news to Chelsea, who have been linked to the playmaker in recent weeks.

According to the Daily Star, the 26-year-old is high on Jose Mourinho’s transfer wishlist, and his ongoing unhappiness at PSG may prompt the Portuguese coach to make a move in January.
