(Video) Chelsea transfer target and potential Diego Costa replacement finds the net AGAIN in Ligue 1

It was telling that on the same day Diego Costa was axed from Chelsea’s first team, Michy Batshuayi was busy doing what he does best for Marseille.

Jose Mourinho’s patience in Costa finally ran out and the Spain international was axed from the Blues first team for their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

With Eden Hazard and Pedro leading the line, the Pensioners were largely toothless, and Costa’s key contribution was to throw his bib petulantly in the direction of Mourinho after realising he wouldn’t be making a late cameo appearance.

While Costa shone last term as Chelsea lifted the EPL title, his gnashing and gnarling contributions have overtaken his truly effective attacking displays this term.

There has been extensive speculation that Mourinho will dip into the transfer market in January in order to sign a new centre-forward and bolster his attacking options.

Batshuayi found the net for Marseille in their thrilling 3-3 draw with Monaco on Sunday evening, has now found the net 10 times and contributed four assists in 15 league appearances to date this term.

With his explosive pace, his movement and his fine finishing, he would surely represent an upgrade on the sulky, smarting Costa.
