Chelsea FC transfer news: Mourinho wants to offload striking FLOP, but may be stuck with expensive DUD

Posted by

Jose Mourinho is keen to offload Radamel Falcao from Chelsea in January after admitting that the Colombian striker represents a failed (and costly) gamble.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Portuguese coach is set to be lumped with the frontman until the season’s end, with AS Monaco—his parent club—not willing to take him back.

Falcao spent last season on loan at Manchester United, where he also struggled, but Mourinho clearly saw something in the former Atletico Madrid frontman that Louis van Gaal did not, and opted to bring him to Stamford Bridge on loan at the beginning of the current campaign.

However, the Tiger has wholly failed to impress—managing just one goal in nine Premier League outings to date this term.

With the Blues struggling, Falcao has rarely been trusted with a starting berth, despite Mourinho reportedly paying a significant portion of his £265,000-per-week wage.

One option—according to the Mail—could be to dump Falcao onto Valencia, who are understood to be keen on giving him a chance to prove he’s not finished.
