(Video) Jordon Ibe goal: Liverpool’s prized youngster gives them a 6-1 win in the Capital One Cup

In the first minute of Liverpool‘s Capital One Cup bout with Southampton it looked like it would be a frustrating evening for Reds fans. Conceding a goal within the first 45 seconds was not how Jurgen Klopp wanted his team to play.

But after a first-half scoring frenzy from Daniel Sturridge that led them to a 3-1 lead, Jordon Ibe took over in the second half to give the Reds two more goals and secure a spot for the Reds in the Capital One Cup Semi-Finals.

Ibe – who is nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award – restarted the scoring in the middle of the second half, first on an assist to Divock Origi (for Origi’s second of three on the day) before having his own name called and finding the net for Liverpool’s fifth score of the day.

It was Ibe’s first goal scored in all English competitions, and one he won’t soon forget – especially if the Reds manage to win their next League Cup bout in January.

Liverpool would win 6-1 over Southampton to advance.

Could this performance by Ibe have secured his Golden Boy award?
