Valencia manager Gary Neville can’t help Jamie Carragher dig as he bids farewell to MNF

New Valencia head coach Gary Neville has bid farewell to Monday Night Football and the team at Sky Sports after confirming his exit from the show….while also taking a moment to mock old rival Jamie Carragher.

Manchester United great Neville was unveiled as the new Valencia coach earlier this week, and he will join his brother Phil—currently part of the coaching staff at the Mestalla—as they look to revive the struggling La Liga heavyweights.

The move represents Neville’s first steps into management as a head coach, although he is part of England’s backroom staff, and will continue in this role.

While the switch to Spain represents a new start for Neville, it also brings to an end his successful stint as one of the figureheads of Sky Sports’ popular show, Monday Night Football.

Neville, along with old rival Jamie Carragher, have fronted the programme since 2014, and have impressed viewers with their humour, rapport and superb insight.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday evening, hours after he was presented to the press, Neville thanked Sky Sports for their support, as well as MNF anchor man Ed Chamberlin.
