Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that statistics that suggest his side have suffered the most injuries in England since 2010 are misleading.

As reported by Sky Sports, the Gunners have suffered 422 injuries since 2010, more than any other Premier League club in that same period of time.

Having been rocked by the double blow this week of losing Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez to knee and hamstring injuries respectively, it appears as though those injury woes are going to continue with the duo joining the likes of Francis Coquelin and Danny Welbeck in the treatment room.

However, Wenger doesn’t believe that his side suffer with more injuries than any other club in Europe, as he insisted the statistics include the likes of Abou Diaby who spent a significant period of time on the sidelines throughout his career in London.

Similarly, Jack Wilshere has been unable to maintain his fitness in recent years, and so perhaps Wenger has a point in that it is the same individuals who suffer setbacks as opposed to his entire squad contributing to the statistics.

Nevertheless, it will mean little to Arsenal supporters who will be devastated with the latest setbacks, as Wenger conceded that it was “possible” that Cazorla will be out until March, as noted by Sky Sports.

The Gunners sit just two points behind joint league leaders Manchester City and Leicester City, but with their squad becoming more and more depleted each week, it remains to be seen whether or not their title push is derailed yet again.

Coupled with a decisive clash against Olympiakos in the Champions League next week as well as a tough Christmas schedule with fixtures so closely packed together, Wenger will be hoping to have as many players at his disposal as possible heading into 2016.

The French tactician did reveal in his press conference on Friday that both Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny will be in the squad to face Sunderland this weekend, thus relieving the injury crisis to an extent.
