Tottenham monitoring Chelsea transfer target in case of Kane injury

Posted by

Tottenham Hotspur are understood to have sent scouts to France this week as Spurs keep tabs on Olympique de Marseille forward Michy Batshuayi.

Mauricio Pochettino recently admitted that he was looking to sign a forward during the summer, as while his side have being strongly in the Premier League this season, they remain reliant on Harry Kane.

The England international has found the net eight times in 14 league games so far this season, proving that last year’s haul of 21 goals in 34 outings was no fluke.

However, while Kane has shone in recent weeks, Spurs have a dearth of backup options.

Son Heung-min has impressed upon his arrival in English football, but is ideally used in a supporting role, while Clinton N’Jie is yet to truly announce himself in the Premier League.

While Tottenham remain linked with Saido Berahino, Spurs sent a scout to watch Rennes match against Marseille earlier this week—according to Rennes’ official website—and Sport Witness understand the Lilywhites are considering OM forward Batshuayi.

However, any hopes Spurs have of signing the player may be dependent on whether Chelsea—also mooted suitors for the Belgian international—also make a move.
