Newcastle clear-out to begin with Galatasaray target, but why don’t Chelsea or Man United move for striker?

Reports indicate that Newcastle United forward Papiss Cisse is set to leave St. James’ Park in the summer, with Galatasaray keen on the Senegal hitman’s signature.

According to the Mirror, Cisse has been deemed surplus to requirements in the North-East, and Newcastle are keen to offload—for the right price—as they look to reshape the squad and offload the underperformers.

Gala are understood to be keen on Cisse, while under-pressure Magpies boss Steve McClaren is desperate to receive funds in order to build a squad capable of pulling clear of relegation.

Cisse has impressed in fits and starts at Newcastle, notably during his maiden campaign in England when he bagged 13 goals in 14 league games.

However, he only managed 10 goals in 60 matches over the next two campaigns, and has scored only twice in 10 matches this season.

Despite his struggles, might Chelsea or Manchester United also look to move for the forward?

Both have failed to find the net with enough regularity this season; the Blues have laboured following the loss of form of Diego Costa, while Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay have failed to demonstrate their class on a consistent basis at Old Trafford.
