Arsenal are in serious need of a young, healthy midfielder as they head into the second half of the Premier League season. One such midfielder who could provide an immediate boost is 18-year-old Ruben Neves from FC Porto.
According to the Metro, Neves has been scouted several times by Arsene Wenger in preparation for an estimated £22 million transfer. Neves has been a star for the Primeira Liga giants and a huge part of their Champions League success.
Neves has played all but 12 minutes of Porto’s Champions League group stage and became the youngest captain for a UCL fixture against Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
Arsenal have been hurting at the midfielder position and the recent injury to Francis Coquelin opened up a gaping hole at the defensive midfielder spot. He joined Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere on the sidelines as one of the more notable midfield stars that are hurting. Alexis Sanchez was injured last week as well.
The Gunners received a huge boost from the now-healthy Aaron Ramsey in their big 3-1 win over Sunderland to the tune of a goal and an assist.
