FA Cup third round draw 2015-16: Balls kind to Man United & Chelsea

Posted by

The draw for the third round of this season’s FA Cup has just been made and it has thrown up some cracking ties.

Holders Arsenal, who are looking to become the first team since 1886 to win the trophy three years in a row, will host Sunderland in a repeat of Saturday’s Premier League clash, which the Gunners won 3-1.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were out of the hat early. The Reds have been handed an away tie at League Two Exeter City.

Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur were also drawn early. The good news for Spurs is that they will play at White Hart Lane. The bad news is that their opponents will be in-form Leicester City, who knocked them out of the competition in North London last season.

The draw was kind to Manchester United and Chelsea. The Red Devils will welcome League One Sheffield United to Old Trafford, while Chelsea take on either Leyton Orient or Scunthorpe at Stamford Bridge.

Eastleigh – the lowest ranked team left in the cup – are at home to four-time winners Bolton Wanderers, who current sit bottom of the Championship.

Manchester City face a Premier League opposition in the shape of Norwich City, who will have home advantage.

All ties will be played between January 8 and January 11 next year.
