Francesco Totti set to pen one-year extension with Roma

Reports in Italy are suggesting that legendary midfielder Francesco Totti is in talks with the club’s owners over a one-year contract extension, according to Football Italia.

The veteran’s current deal already runs until June 2016, but a report in Corriere dello Sport claims that he will look to extend his stay with the club after assuring them he will be of further use for another year at least.

It is believed that an agreement will be easily reached with club owner James Pallotta, but there will be no official announcement of the deal until Totti makes his return from injury.

The 39-year-old has been laid low with a niggling thigh injury for the majority of the current campaign and has only made three Serie A appearances so far.

Since making his debut for the club back in 1992, he has gone on to make a total of 746 appearances across all competitions, scoring 300 goals and chalking up 187 assists in the process.
