Diego Costa opens up on throwing his bib at Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has confessed that he was guilty of an impulsive mistake when he threw his bib at manager Jose Mourinho during the recent meeting with Tottenham, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Spanish international was spotted flinging his bib at his boss on the bench of the Premier League clash last month as he failed to make it onto the pitch at White Hart Lane (via Mirror).

The bib fell just short of hitting Mourinho, but the striker has since admitted that he made a mistake and his actions were unacceptable.

“The bib [incident] is in the past. I made a mistake, but my relationship with Mourinho is amazing, we get on really well,” Costa told Onda Cero.

“There are things you need to control, but the bib thing was an impulse.”

Costa was also benched for the clash with Bournemouth last weekend but restored to the starting line up for Wednesday night’s meeting with Porto, and has gone on to admit that he knows his form must improve.

“I have to improve a bit,” Costa added.

“The start of the season has not been good for me – not in how I have played nor in goals.”
