Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger appears to have targeted giant Southampton star Victor Wanyama as the ideal man to solve his problems in midfield, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners chief is believed to be preparing an all-out assault to sign the Kenyan international, despite recent interest coming from arch rivals Tottenham.
Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Wanyama since before he made the move to the Premier League, and Wenger is now keen to finally make his move for the 24-year-old in the new year.
Wenger is currently facing somewhat of a crisis in the midfield department with injuries ruling out both Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla for a number of months, while Jack Wilshere is yet to take to the field this term thanks to an ongoing ankle problem.
The Mirror report claims Wanyama will likely cost Arsenal around £15million, though Wenger may well be willing to pay up considering he is a proven Premier League performer now.
