The Croatian Messi: Manchester City face major European competition for €15m wonderkid

Manchester City’s hopes of signing Ante Coric have been dealt a blow with the news that Paris Saint-Germain have added their names to the player’s burgeoning list of heavyweight suitors.

According to the Daily Mail [as per the Manchester Evening News] in November, the Citizens are keen on signing the Dinamo Zabreb teenager, prompting speculation that the 18-year-old could be on his way to the Etihad Stadium in January.

However, recent reports in Croatia indicate that Coric’s future destination is becoming increasingly hard to predict.

Local source Jutarnji List [as per Le 10 Sport] report that PSG are also keen on the youngster—nicknamed the ‘Croatian Messi’ according to the French source—and are keeping tabs on the starlet.

They aren’t the only ones, FC Porto, Juventus and Bayern Munich have all also been named as possible destinations for the youngster, who will likely have a big decision to make in the near future.

Whoever ultimately signs Coric will have to part with €15 million to acquire his services, with the Croatian source [again via Le 10 Sport] noting that this is the exit clause stipulated in the player’s contract.

In recent times, City have not had the best record of bringing through young talent. However, the recent progress of teenage Nigerian prodigy Kelechi Iheanacho may prompt Coric to consider the Etihad Stadium as a viable destination for his exciting talents.
