Mourinho keen to rival Barcelona as Chelsea want precocious €30m Ligue 1 talent

According to reports in England, Chelsea are keen to move for AS Monaco talent Bernardo Silva.

The Daily Express [via Le 10 Sport] note that Jose Mourinho has identified the Portuguese starlet as a potential January addition as he looks to transform the Blues’ season.

Chelsea have been miserable in the Premier League so far this term, and sit in 15th place after 15 matches.  Ahead of Monday evening’s fixture against Leicester City, they have won only four matches, losing eight, amassing only 15 points in the process.

They sit a remarkable 17 points behind leaders Manchester City following the Citizens’ 2-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday.

As Mourinho looks to reverse Chelsea’s fortunes, he’s believed to be eyeing Bernardo Silva, with Le 10 Sport noting that it would take a bit of ‘near to €30m’ to sign Monaco’s No. 10.

If Chelsea are to get their man, they will need to beat off some considerable competition, with the French source noting that Juventus, Inter Milan and Barcelona are all keen on the 21-year-old, who has scored three goals in 16 Ligue 1 outings so far this term.
