Jamie Vardy transfer: Jose Mourinho hints at Chelsea move for Leicester record-breaker

Posted by

Has Jose Mourinho just revealed that Chelsea are ready to make a swoop for Jamie Vardy?

The Leicester City striker has been in unstoppable form this season, and recently broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record for goals in successive games by bagging in 11 on the bounce.

His prolific goalscoring has seen the 28-year-old, who was playing non-league football only three seasons ago, linked with a £30m move to either Chelsea or Manchester United by The Independent.

And Mourinho did not play down Chelsea’s reported interest when asked about the potential transfer fate of the Premier League’s top scorer, admitting that the speculation surrounding Vardy is natural.

The Sun quotes the Blues boss as saying ahead of Chelsea’s visit of Leicester on Monday: “He is top scorer and it is normal big clubs want him. It is a beautiful story and his record is historic.”

Mourinho’s words suggest that Vardy’s upcoming trip to Stamford Bridge could be the last time he goes there as a visiting player. But would he swap a title race for a relegation battle in January?!
