Manchester United are reportedly priming an offer for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, in the event that the French giants sign Paul Pogba.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Ligue 1 champions have made the Juventus star a priority for the summer, although they are expected to face competition from Barcelona.
Should the French international arrive though, it could mean that Verratti is forced to consider his options despite establishing himself as an integral part of Laurent Blanc’s side this season.
As a result, that has led to suggestions that United will be keen on signing the Italian, as Louis van Gaal’s side have desperately missed some creativity in midfield to go with their effort so far this year which has led to the Dutchman receiving significant criticism in recent weeks.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal are also linked the former Pescara starlet, who enjoyed four impressive years at the club before immediately being given the opportunity to impress in the French capital.
The 23-year-old is widely regarded as the future of the Azzurri midfield after being compared to Andrea Pirlo at an early age, and the similarities in their respective games are there for all to see.
It remains to be seen whether or not Pogba does leave Turin next summer as he continues to struggle to have a positive impact for the team this season, although Barcelona will certainly be monitoring the situation with a view of beating PSG to his signature.
