PSG to rival Chelsea for €55m transfer target

Chelsea could be set for a transfer tussle with their Champions League rivals Paris Saint-Germain for the services of Alex Teixeira in January.

The Blues have been linked with a move for the Shakhtar Donetsk attacker in recent months, although as reported by the London Evening Standard [as per Le 10 Sport], the Pensioners would need to part with €55m in order to sign the player, with this the fee outlined by Mircea Lucescu, coach of the Ukrainian side, discussing the transfer.

According to Le 10 Sport, the Pensioners would be willing to part with only €50m in order to bring the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge.

However, according to the French source, the Blues may well face competition from moneybags PSG for Teixeira’s services, and the reigning Ligue 1 sides may be one of the few sides in world football not to think twice about meeting Shakhtar’s valuation.

Paris could be set to lose the heavyweight trio of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic (both out of contract), and Edinson Cavani (who has been linked with a move to the Premier League [L’Equipe via Independent]) during 2016, and Teixeira could be an excellent—if ambitious—replacement for the French giants.
