Man United ready to make January bid for £28m striker

Lost in the incredible season that Leicester City star Jamie Vardy is having is that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is right on his tail with 12 goals of his own through the first 16 matches. Meanwhile, goal-hungry Manchester United are still waiting for Wayne Rooney to return from injury and for Anthony Martial to return to his September form. As a result, the Red Devils are ready to make an offer for Lukaku in hopes he can turn their season around.

According to Shoot, Man United manager Louis van Gaal intends to make an offer for the Belgian striker after being impressed with his form through the first half of the season.

Lukaku’s 12 goals to date is more than half of the goals the Red Devils have scored all season. He currently ranks second in the league behind Jamie Vardy for most goals scored and has scored double-digit goals in six of his last seven years of football.

Lukaku joined Everton in a £28 million transfer out of Chelsea in 2014 after playing for the team on loan the year before. He has 87 career league goals between Anderlecht, West Bromwich Albion and Everton.
