Chelsea transfer roundup: Remy exit, wonderkid striker, Willian targeted

Posted by

The Blues will need to orchestrate a quick turnaround if they want to steer clear of the relegation zone and find a way to upset PSG in the Champions League Round of 16. Between falling to Leicester City on Monday and clinching a spot in the Champions League thanks to a comparatively-easy Group Stage, there is not a lot of room for confidence for Chelsea fans.

To make matters worse – if that were at all possible – Chelsea’s rivals are plotting to pirate what little talent they have left performing at a high level. Key players like Willian are getting serious looks from European powerhouses while depth players like Loic Remy are being targeted too.

Here is the Chelsea transfer roundup for Wednesday:

PSG to pursue Willian

Chelsea’s leading scorer through all competitions, Willian is about the only member of the Blues that has surpassed expectations as opposed to falling short of them. With seven goals so far – including five in the Champions League, Willian has drawn interest from PSG, who are interested in making an offer for the Brazilian star. [Source: Metro]

Target Breel Embolo gets transfer offer from rival

Chelsea have been closely monitoring FC Basel starlet Breel Embolo – who already has eight goals this season after scoring 17 last year. But they’ll face some stiff competition from Man United, who are also interested, as well as VfL Wolfsburg, who reportedly just made an offer of £18 million for the Swiss wonderkid. Remy recorded his first goal of the season during Monday’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City. He also recorded a goal in Chelsea’s loss to Stoke City in the League Cup.
