Chelsea hold talks with Diego Simeone to replace Jose Mourinho

Chelsea have reportedly spoken to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid about the possibility of head coach Diego Simeone taking over from Jose Mourinho, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues parted ways with Jose Mourinho on Thursday afternoon after a terrible start to the season now sees them sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

And while Guus Hiddink is set to take control of the club until the end of the current campaign, The Mail claims that Diego Simeone is the man they want on a long term basis and will look to put a deal in place to bring him on board over the summer.

It is believed that the Chelsea hierarchy have already held talks with the Argentine tactician over the past week and have been told that it will cost them £15million to buy him out of the rest of his contract.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is also thought to be in the frame to take over, but the Blues face some serious competition from the likes of Manchester City and United.
