Memphis Depay: Brutal slur Man United winger used to own Robin van Persie over Turkey move revealed

Manchester United winger Memphis Depay reportedly mocked Robin van Persie over his transfer to Fenerbahce in an altercation during a training session for the Netherlands national team.

The pair were briefly teammates at Old Trafford last summer. Depay arrived from PSV Eindhoven but Van Persie soon left for Turkey in a switch which raised eyebrows across the footballing world.

According to Dutch publication Voetbal Primeur, the two Dutchmen got into an argument after Depay failed to pass to Van Persie during practice before Holland’s Euro 2016 qualifier in Kazakhstan.

The 32-year-old former Arsenal striker allegedly asked Depay whether he thought he was a ‘big boy’, with the younger winger cheekily replying by questioning whether ‘big boys’ play for Fenerbahce.

Manager Danny Blind stepped in to stop the argument as it continued off the pitch, reportedly saying ‘you again?’ to Van Persie, who was left out of the starting lineup for the 2-1 win in Astana.

Depay, 21, might want to think twice about respecting his elders in the future, but seemingly hit a nerve with Van Persie which suggests that the Premier League goal centurion may regret his choice of move.

He has scored five times in 19 appearances for Fenerbahce – a disappointing return considering the standard – and reports in The Telegraph have claimed that he is far from happy in Istanbul.
