Liverpool target £22m centre-back after defence goes missing against Watford

After Liverpool‘s defence and new goalkeeper Bogdan failed to get a stop against Watford over the weekend, manager Jurgen Klopp has started hunting for new defenders to grab in the Janaury transfer window. First on his list is Inter Milan star Jeison Murillo, who has emerged as a quality defender in Europe.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool intend to table an offer of £22 million for the Colombian left centre-back in January. Injuries and poor form have plagued Liverpool’s backs over the past few weeks, allowing seven Premier League goals since the start of December. Jurgen Klopp made significant changes to his lineup ahead of their match against Watford, but it proved ineffective as the Reds lost 3-0.

Murillo has been a fortress for his past few teams, contributing to 26 clean sheets in 65 appearances between Inter Milan and his former club Granada since the 2013-14 season.

Liverpool are currently ninth on the table after losing to Watford.
