Liverpool join hunt for France international Simon Mignolet replacement

Liverpool have been put on high alert after learning that Marseille captain Steve Mandanda is keen on a move to the Premier League, according to the Daily Telegraph.

However, they will have to go up against cross city rivals Everton if they want to snare his signature, as the Toffees look for a long term replacement for Tim Howard.

Mandanda is out of contract at Marseille in the summer, and reports on both sides of the Channel suggest that he is ready for a new challenge abroad.

The 30-year-old joined Marseille back in 2007, and has since gone on to make over 300 appearances for the club, and is currently France’s second choice goalkeeper behind Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris.

And Liverpool are credited with having a major interest in his services, after Simon Mignolet missed the weekend’s clash with Watford, while deputy Adam Bogdan endured a torrid time as the Reds went down 3-0.
