Zlatan MLS: David Beckham begging European superstar to join his club in Miami

Manchester United legend David Beckham played alongside some of the greatest players in the history of European football during stints with the Red Devils, Real Madrid, PSG and Milan. Now retired and trying to make his mark as an executive, Beckham is trying to recruit one of his former teammates – namely PSG scoring machine Zlatan Ibrahimovic – to join his new MLS club.

According to Aftonbladet and MLSSoccer.com, Beckham has publicly declared his interest in making Zlatan the first big signing of the Miami-based football club he is helping to establish.

“If Ibrahimovic is still active, then I want to buy him right away. He is a magnificent physical specimen, so it’s entirely possible,” Beckham told Aftonbladet.

“Who does not want a man who is prepared to kill to win?”

Beckham and a group of investors are trying to bring football (soccer) to Miami and have overcome a major hurdle in getting the club established by identifying a stadium site.

The Man United legend played with Zlatan during the 2013 season in a brief stint with Paris Saint-Germain, but their short time together was still more than enough for Beckham to identify Zlatan as one of the world’s best footballers.

“I’ve played with or against the very best in the world,” Beckham said. “I have never met anyone who was so serious during both practice and games.

“When I came to Paris I knew that he was an incomparable talent as a player, but he’d be so tough and merciless on himself at all times, I had no idea.

“He is a born winner. He is a beast with huge self-confidence, and I’m one of his biggest admirers.”
