Influential Arsenal star has yet to enter contract extension talks

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed that he hasn’t started contract discussions with the club but is happy at the Emirates.

The German international has been in great form so far this season having registered 15 assists already, and that in turn has helped the Gunners move to within two points of current Premier League leaders Leicester City.

However, with his current deal set to expire in 2018, much has been made of the lack of contract talks but Ozil remains calm about the situation and has no intention of leaving London anytime soon.

“There is no rush to sign a new contract,” he told Kicker, as reported by The Independent. “My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.

“I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.

“There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”

The 26-year-old remains Arsenal’s record signing after joining from Madrid in a £42.5m deal, and after an indifferent start to life in England which saw him attract significant criticism along the way, it appears as though he is finally settling into his best period of form for Arsene Wenger’s side.
