Premier League-title winner to snub England return to join Liverpool legend in MLS

Former Arsenal and Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole is expected to join Steven Gerrard at LA Galaxy.

According to The Sun, the 35-year-old is desperate for a fresh start after a nightmare spell at Roma.

Cole signed for Roma after leaving Chelsea in 2014 but made just 11 Serie A appearances in 12 months before having his contract mutually terminated.

The Sun reports that rock-bottom Aston Villa want to bring the 107-cap England defender back to the Premier League to improve their vulnerable defence.

But Cole is expecting his first child with Italian partner Sharon Canu and the idea of setting up home in California appeals to the couple, The Sun adds.

He would become the third Premier League legend on Galaxy’s books after former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and ex-Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane.

Cole won the title twice with Arsenal before leaving for Chelsea and winning it again in 2009-10. He also has a Champions League, Europa League and seven FA Cup winners medals in his trophy cabinet.
