Manchester United star Wayne Rooney reportedly took a leading role as the players spoke out at Louis van Gaal over his style of management.
The United captain, along with senior players such as Michael Carrick, Chris Smalling and Juan Mata were among the group that discussed the current situation with the Dutchman as the club continue to struggle.
According to The Daily Mail, the latest exchange saw the players question the training methods as well as the tactics used on match days, with the latter in particular drawing the ire of supporters.
It is suggested that the players argued that the hardline training regime is a reason behind the injury crisis that the squad is currently suffering with, while certain individuals were unhappy with their roles in the team which they believe could jeopardise their places at Euro 2016.
While it is reported that the two parties agreed to work together in a bid to get United back on track, it remains to be seen whether or not that results in positive results on the pitch as the Red Devils head to Stoke City on Boxing Day.
Meanwhile, Van Gaal is said to have encouraged further discussions between himself and the players and spoke to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to clarify his position with speculation linking Jose Mourinho as a replacement.
After crashing out of the Champions League earlier this month, United will be looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the Premier League at Stoke after losing to Bournemouth and Norwich City in their last two outings.
